Welcome

We warmly welcome you to Ghana’s leading private medical university and congratulate you on securing admission to this noble institution. Studying Medicine is quite demanding, and we hope you strike a balance between your studies and campus life. Enjoy your stay at Accra College of Medicine and hope you have a great academic journey.

All admitted students and continuing students should make sure they partake in all activities organized at the school. Orientation is usually held a week before lectures start and it is mandatory for all students. All Freshmen are also expected to attend Matriculation ceremony and sign the matricula to officially make them students of ACM.

Payment of Fees

Payment of fees is very integral to the registration process. Upon receipt of admission, you will have a month to pay a commitment fee of GHC 5,000 or $1000, which forms part of the tuition fee so will be credited to your account.

Steps for Registration

All incoming students will be expected to register in person at ACM. This is to ensure that students have all the required documentation before they are allowed to register. Before students register, they are to ensure that they conduct a medical examination at the approved ACM Hospital/Clinic – (To Be Announced). Please note that students will not be allowed to register until they have completed the medical examination.

  1. Pay tuition fee and submit proof of payment to the Finance Officer.
  2. Collect a clearance form and proceed to the Office of Administration.
  3. Submit clearance form and all required documents (health insurance, immunisations, medical examination and other documents)
  4. Fill out all the required documents and register.

International students are to arrive in the country at least 2 weeks before the start of the academic calendar to be able to navigate their way around and also book their accommodation to avoid any unforeseen challenges.

You can order a taxi from the Airport to the Accra College of Medicine, East Legon and this may cost between GHC70 to GHC100.
IT IS ADVISED TO CHANGE YOUR CURRENCY INTO LOCAL CURRENCY AT THE FOREX BUREAU AT THE EXIT POINT OF THE AIRPORT BEFORE HAILING A TAXI.

Applicants with the below listed academic qualifications are required to submit them to Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for evaluation at a fee specified by the mentioned institution.

  1. International Baccalaureate
  2. Nigerian WASSCE
  3. French Baccalaureate
  4. American High school
  5. IGSE and ‘A’ Level
  6. First Degree Certificate and Transcript

For a newly admitted international student of ACM, the information below is essential to process your resident permit in Ghana. Prepare all documents and make financial information available.

Passport holders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will be issued a resident permit on arrival. You will be required to apply for a Non-Citizenship ID first. Upon receiving that, you can apply for your student permit. Resident permit extensions can be processed while in Ghana. Please note the student permit is valid for a year and should be renewed annually.

Non-ECOWAS students need to secure their visa before arrival. Visa extensions can be processed while in Ghana.

Upon request, the school will assist interested students in getting their student permit with conditions attached.

For Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) nationals acquiring a student permit

  1. Photocopy of admission letter
  2. Photocopy of receipt of current fees paid
  3. Two passport size photos
  4. Application letter for permit from the school
  5. Applicant’s passport (applicant will in turn be given a retention slip for use until the passport booklet is returned)
  6. Applicant’s Non-Citizenship Identity Card
  7. A fee of GHC 150.00
  8. Application is issued within two to three weeks of submission
For Non-ECOWAS nationals acquiring a student permit
  1. Photocopy of admission letter
  2. Photocopy of receipt of current fees paid
  3. Two passport size photos
  4. Application letter for permit from the school
  5. Applicant’s passport (applicant will in turn be given a retention slip for use until the passport booklet is returned)
  6. Applicant’s Non-Citizenship Identity Card
  7. A fee of GHC 200.00
  8. Application is issued within two to three weeks of submission

Note: Failure to renew permits on said date will attract a penalty of Gh¢ 60 for Ecowas Countries and Gh¢ 80 for Non-Ecowas Countries

Requirements for Non-Citizenship Identity Card (ECOWAS and Non–ECOWAS Nationals)
  1. Passport
  2. Fee of $120.00 (can be paid in Cedi equivalent)

Accommodation

The College does not have a hostel facility, however there are hostels around and close to the College campus. Upon request for assistance, the College’s Facility Manager will assist a student in finding a hostel of their choice. The financial commitment and final agreement will be between the student and the relevant Hostel Management.

Students are advised to choose a hostel that best suits them and enables them have sound mind for learning.
